|Released back in 2005; The Warriors was a well crafted beat 'em up game that was overshadowed by the success and controversy of Grand Theft Auto, Manhunt and State of Emergency. PlayStation gamers who missed this classic back in the day could now give it a chance, via PlayStation Network.
The game is based on the 1978 cult film and will have players take on the role of the nine main Warriors at different settings. Unique to the story will be a few levels that detail how the gang was established.
Like the film; the Warriors have been framed for the murder of Cyrus (leader of the most powerful gang in New York City) during a midnight summit and now its a struggle to get back to their turf as every gang is out to get them.
The Warriors has a setup that features a classical beat 'em up gameplay that has been redeveloped for the Sixth generation consoles. Players will enjoy the combat system in a well crafted environments. The game also feature a groovy soundtrack along with many of the original cast reprising their role.
However not everything is perfect as it dose suffer from the same setbacks as the original PS2 game. The graphics are still a little scratchy while the Co-op gameplay isn't as entertaining as one would hope for. The Warriors will also have the problem of only appealing to movie buffs and gamers who enjoy the beat 'em up genre.
Gamers who missed out back in the day, its time to come out and play The Warriors. Can you dig it!
